Salnave Philippe-Auguste joined the Centre d'Art (Port-au-Prince, Haiti) in 1961. This work is dated 1963.
A poet and lawyer by profession, Philippe-Auguste often, in the manner of Matisse's later practice, worked with cut-outs.
